I’m an author.

2020 was the year of realization, transition, and challenges. Everyone was affected one way or another by one circumstance or another. I’ve been working on and off on my website all year. Initially, I wanted to relaunch my blog in early 2020 but I needed this time and every circumstance I encountered for a proper reintroduction.

I needed every month of last year to fully meet and accept Nini. I began the year so focused on perfection, I broke down through the months. The fact was no matter how hard I worked the ruler moved with every step because I wasn’t aiming for the best Nini, I wanted the perfect Nini.

1st: What is my purpose?

With everything stripped away, my purpose is to charm and enchant through language. I’ve done this my entire life under different labels as I taught, danced, and cared for others.

I usually want to be what I’m seeking from the outside. A joyful abstract escape. With a touch of elusively because I’m ultra-private and great at indirect answers like the weather forecast.

What is the purpose of my blog?

As I wrote, Released [more details coming later] there were so many moments where I wished I had a better recording of my process. The analytic and the emotional side. And even though the word ‘emotional’ is usually viewed pejoratively I don’t mean it that way. Entering this next project, I want to record more.

Also…the end of 2020 was lonely. It was lonely in the same way that the prior years were except for 2014/15 and pieces of 2016. The difference in those few years weren’t relationships and such it was the creation. Saturated in my own creation is my favorite place to be. ‘Cuz no one seems to understand me the way I understand myself. Where I often feel the most understood, there’s a stillness, peace, and focus. I love the feeling of clear focus and being able to think without obsessive interrupting thoughts. That’s what art does for me.

Art is an outlet I need. So, we’ll call this first post an introduction because I haven’t even scratched the surface on the behind the scenes of my creative journey. No worries though, we have plenty more posts after this to get to the nitty-gritty unbelievably shitty yet hilarious storm I go through to get words and books to readers.

WTH is a Nini-ism?

Here’s the deal: every blog post will have an artistic update/reflection and a Nini-ism.

A Nini-ism is a smidge of advice, support, or a saying I usually say to my inner circle. It’s little pieces of courage or motivation I’ve picked up along the way and want to share with others to brighten or encourage. Or simply a note of affirmation and understanding.

The thing is my inner circle isn’t my target audience and hasn’t asked for my flashy words so I’m bringing them to a blog.
